Skype for Business includes tools that let you communicate and collaborate in the same place. It is integrated with Office apps and the Deakin staff directory.

What?

In mid-2015, Lync 2013 was re-branded as Sskype for business logokype for Business 2015 on Deakin PCs. Rebranding from Lync to Skype for Business for Mac computers and mobile devices is expected to be complete in 2016.

Skype for Business is a Deakin Enterprise program, and is fully integrated with Outlook, Microsoft Office and SharePoint. Using Skype for Business, you can email, instant-message, video-chat, schedule online video meetings, present and share screen via video, and share content.

The free version of Skype is a public product and is recommended for personal (non-work) use.

Skype for Business uses Deakin Single Sign on and is integrated with Deakin Office apps and staff directory. It has enterprise-grade security built in. You can videoconference, text chat, share you screen and more using Skype for Business.

How?

Skype for Business is automatically installed on Deakin computers.
On a PC, click on the Start/Menu button on your computer, and look in ‘All Programs’. Within the Microsoft Office 2013 folder, you will see Skype for Business.

How do I change my profile picture in MS Office? (Including Skype for Business)

  1. Sign into Office 365 (www.deakin.edu.au/office365)
  2. Click on your name in the top right corner of the screen and choose ‘About Me’ from the drop-down list.
  3. From this page you can Upload a picture and then Save all and close. There may be a delay before your new picture shows in Skype for Business.
