CloudDeakin news: retiring and decommisioning old DeakinAir
It has been nearly a year since we have launched the new DeakinAir as our video platform for Deakin University. This platform has been seamlessly integrated with our CloudDeakin environment and we have observed an increased usage of Deakin hosted video for teaching and learning through this application.
As a result, we are now planning to retire and decommission the old DeakinAir platform by 3 October 2016. In order to assist with the decommission process, videos that are less than 2 years old or had more than 9 plays were already migrated to the new video platform. This requirement resulted in close to 20,000 videos being transferred.
After 3 October, video on the old platform will be inaccessible to all users and systems. If you feel that a particular video has not been migrated and is important, please contact the eSolutions ServiceDesk.
Deakin staff are required to take measures to maintain the privacy of students and other staff whose identifying information is evident in the video. Downloaded files must be protected from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. Files must be stored in a safe location and staff are prohibited from sharing the downloaded files beyond the participants of the original teaching and learning event and/or meeting.
It is recommended that staff DO NOT store downloaded files on a portable hard drive or USB flash-drive as the storage device may be easily lost.
