Users who are using OS X 10.8.5 and Firefox might receive error message of “meeting.jnlp can’t be opened because it is from an unidentified developer” when trying to launch Bb Collaborate. To fix this error, save the file. Then, change the suffix of the file from .jnlp to .collab (eg meeting.collab). You will be able to open this file with Bb Collaborate Launcher.
Several recent Java updates by Oracle have caused issues for Bb Collaborate users. Apple’s protection for Java on the Mac is also becoming increasingly disruptive for Bb Collaborate users with new default settings that prevent the application from launching seamlessly. The Bb Collaborate Launcher will help users when connecting to Bb Collaborate sessions. The launcher provides the Java needed to participate in Bb Collaborate web conferencing sessions, users no longer need to install and maintain the system version of Java.
Yes, the Bb Collaborate Launcher will be required to view recorded sessions in the native Collaborate recording format. The Bb Collaborate Launcher is not required to view recordings that have been converted to MP3/MP4 formats.
Java 8 is not fully supported with Bb Collaborate. Please install Java 7 from the Oracle Java archives or use Bb Collaborate Launcher.
