Big turnout at Deakin WIL – Lunch and Learn

Many interested people at today’s launch of the Work Integrated Learning – Lunch and Learn group organised by Karen Young, WIL lecturer in SEBE. Prof. Beverley Oliver, Deakin’s DVC-E, opened the conversation with some big questions on the changing nature of our definition of work (and see the chapter on this theme by our Vice Chancellor, Prof. Jane den Hollander, in the latest CEDU report). A lively conversation took off in interesting directions. Do we prepare students for jobs? Do we focus on how students will create work as entrepreneurs? How do we design authentic graded assessment and incorporate other evidence of students’ capabilities like Deakin Hallmarks, in order to transition to work successfully?

All welcome at the next WIL Lunch and Learn, 13 July, when Prof. Jeff Giddings will talk on Effective Placement Supervision.   Register on the ERS.
